Why do other people think marijauna is illegal?

Cannabis, marijuana , pot, dope, weed, herb, green, trees, ganja, fire, maryjane etc., call it what you may; we've all heard of it and most of us do or have used marijuana before, whether or not you're willing to admit it! For hundreds of years cannabis has been cultivated for its numerous uses, from rope, hair and skin products, to its widely accepted medicinal purposes. With so many great uses, one would think cannabis (the whole plant) would be celebrated, not the case! In fact, marijuana is largely frowned upon in American, as well as other societies around the world. With so much controversy surrounding a, seemingly innocent little plant, I often find myself asking the question: "Why is marijuana illegal?"
